Botofago was crowned the Upper Demerara Football Association Futsal Champion, dethroning incumbent Milerock by an 11-7 score-line in the final on Wednesday evening at the Retrieve Hard-court in Linden.
Botofago seemed to have settled the outcome at the conclusion of the first half in front of a mammoth crowd after storming to a 4-1 advantage. However, Botofago’s complacency in the second stanza, given their initial advantage, led to Milerock recording five goals in the second half as the contest required extra time to decide the outcome following a 6-6 score.
In the end, Botofago tallied five goals in the extra time period, a majority of which occurred in the second stanza of the overtime interval, to secure the eventual win.
