Guyana-Barbados food terminal project progressing – Mustapha

The regional food terminal initiative between Guyana and Barbados is making steady progress, with construction actively taking place at the site in Brown Ponds, Barbados, and an increase in private-sector participation.

Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha addressed this topic during a year-end press briefing at the Ministry’s Regent Street office in Georgetown, stating that the project is on schedule for completion by the end of this year.

“The food terminal is still active,” the Minister confirmed. “In fact, we have seen increased involvement from the private sector. Construction at Brown Ponds in Barbados is ongoing, and we are still making progress on this project. We are optimistic that it will be finished by the end of next year.”
