Cycling Federation announces urgent extraordinary general meeting

– aimed at tackling ongoing leadership crisis

The Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) has announced an urgent extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to address a leadership crisis that has left the organization without a quorum at both the council and executive levels.

The EGM is scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the National Racquet Centre in Georgetown. All registered cycling clubs are urged to attend to collectively address the challenges and chart a path forward for the development of cycling in Guyana.

This crisis follows a series of internal disputes within the GCF. In December 2024, the Federation failed to meet the quorum at a General Council level, leading to administrative paralysis. Additionally, in November 2024, Vice President Nigel London resigned, citing political, ethnic discrimination, and bias within the organization.
