Kobras overcame Mambas by a 56-48 score when the ‘One Guyana’ Basketball League continued last evening at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
The combination of Elijah David and Trevor Smith top-scored with 10 points for the victor, while Carlos Edwards and Emmanuel Atherly supported with nine points, respectively. On the other side, Cosmo Evans tallied 10 points while Jafar Gibbons and Brandon Bento assisted with seven points, respectively. Samuel Thompson added six points.
The contest started positively for Mambas, who secured an initial 14-9 advantage at the conclusion of the first period. However, Kobras marginally reduced the deficit in the second period, netting 14 points while restricting Mambas to 12 to reduce the deficit to 23-26 entering the halftime intermission.
Upon the resumption of play, Kobras seized the advantage, scoring 13 points while limiting their opponent to a mere eight to enter the final quarter ahead at 36-34.
The come-from-behind win was then sealed in the third period as Kobras outscored Mambas 20-14. The event continues today at the same venue with another round of matches.
