Police are investigating a fatal incident that occurred at about 14:15 hrs yesterday on Houston public road, in the vicinity of Rahaman’s Park, involving motorcycle #CH 8290 owned and driven by Brian Paul McKenzie, 55, of Corriverton, Berbice, who died.

According to a police press release, preliminary investigations (based on a video view) revealed the motorcycle was proceeding west on the southern carriageway at Houston at a fast rate. As the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a safety helmet, approached Rahaman’s Turn, he proceeded to negotiate a left turn with the same speed, lost control of the motorcycle and collided with the metal guard rail in the centre of the road separating the eastern and western carriageways, the police said.

The motorcyclist was flung into a lamp-post and landed on the road surface sustaining injuries about his head and body. The release said ambulance service was summoned and Emergency Medical Technicians later pronounced him dead at the scene.

The body of the motorcyclist is at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination, the release said.
