The number of passengers processed at airports and the amount of cargo that moved through them rose significantly last year.

At a press conference held on Saturday by the Ministry of Public Works to review 2024, Egbert Field, Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), presented a year-end report showcasing the increases.

According to the report, total cargo imports and exports reached 13,557,766 kilograms by the end of December 2024. This marked a substantial increase from 8,983,661 kilograms recorded in 2023. Field attributed this achievement to enhanced efficiency in cargo handling and strengthened partnerships with logistics companies such as LATAM Cargo, which has expanded its operations in Guyana.
