(Trinidad Express) A man was shot dead while being driven home by his mother in Belmont on Tuesday night.

Dead is Nigel Latchman, of Upper St Francois Valley Road, Belmont.

His 39-year-old mother said she was driving along the road at around 7.30p.m. when she was forced to a stop by a vehicle ahead.

She said two masked gunmen got out and approached the vehicle.

The woman said she was ordered out but refused.

It was then that the men began shooting into the vehicle, wounding Latchman.

His mother drove to the Port of Spain General Hospital but he died there.

At the scene of the shooting, police officers recovered seven 40-calibre bullets and five 5.56 spent shells in addition to tow shells in the victims’ vehicle.

Police later arrested a 22-year-old of San Juan.
