Walton-Desir objects to ban on use of `corruption’ in Parliament

-in letter to Speaker APNU+AFC Member of Parliament (MP), Amanza Walton-Desir, has expressed concern over the ban on the use of the word “corruption” in parliamentary proceedings and in a letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly stated her view on how apart from being “frankly, absurd”, such a restriction is inimical to the role of Parliament as a forum for truth, accountability, and robust debate.

Aerial assault aims to stem LA Palisades fire eastward spread

LOS ANGELES,  (Reuters) – Aircraft dropped water and fire retardant on steep hills to stem the eastward spread of the Palisades wildfire in Los Angeles yesterday as on-the-ground firefighting efforts also intensified amid warnings of wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour that could make matters worse.

Timehri resident held over marijuana

Adrian Stoll, a 28-year-old resident of Timehri North, East Bank Demerara, was arrested on Friday evening after the vehicle he was driving was stopped and searched by police ranks, and he was found to be in possession of 12 grams of marijuana.

The People’s National Congress (PNC), Alliance For Change (AFC) and Working People’s Alliance (WPA) recently announced that they will be meeting to discuss the establishment of a coalition for the purpose of contesting the upcoming regional and general elections to be held by November this year.
