Suspect in death of Pomeroon farmer released on station bail – police

‘Short Man’, the suspect who was held over the death of Morris Goorcharan, a 61-year-old farmer whose body was recovered from Abrams Creek on Boxing Day has been released on station bail, Regional Commander, Superintendent Khemraj Shivbaran yesterday stated.

The Commander added that the case file will soon be sent to the  Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice relating to charge against ‘Short Man’. Goorcharan had left his home in a boat on December 24 with meat to distribute to his customers and never returned. According to reports, this occurred sometime between 07.00 hours on December 24, 2024, and 12.30 hours on December 25.

A post-mortem was conducted and the cause of death was inclusive due to the condition of Goorcharan’s body.
