The men who allegedly assaulted Avinash Charran, called ‘Boy’, of Agriculture Road, Triumph Village, East Coast Demerara, are known and police are investigating the matter, Regional Commander, Senior Superintendent Ewart Wray told Stabroek News on Saturday.
It was reported that Charran was assaulted by two men on Thursday around 02:00 hrs while he and a friend were walking home from a birthday party in Jangotown, North Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara.
This was stated by his cousin, Rafeena Ramlakan, who posted on her Facebook page that while the two were heading home, they were followed and attacked by two men.
She added that during the attack, “… Avinash’s friend managed to escape and hide. However, the two suspects caught up with Avinash and brutally beat him, leaving him unconscious with severe injuries, including a brain haemorrhage, abdominal injuries, and eye trauma. He was found unconscious later that morning on a street corner and is currently hospitalized in critical condition.”
When contacted by Stabroek News, she confirmed that Charran was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital and a report was made at the Beterverwagting Police Station.
Charran’s family is pleading with the public to help locate these men and if anyone has information about their whereabouts, they should contact the nearest police station immediately.
