-Clerk of the National Assembly
In response to an accusation from APNU+AFC MP Amanza Walton-Desir, Clerk of the National Assembly Sherlock Isaacs yesterday said that the word `corruption’ is considered to be an unparliamentary expression and the Speaker of the National Assembly, Manzoor Nadir is simply enforcing the rule.
In a letter on Saturday address-ed to the Speaker, Walton-Desir raised concerns over what she described as the “absurd” prohibition on the term “corruption” in parliamentary discourse.
In an invited comment yesterday, Isaacs said that Speaker of the National Assembly did not implement a ban on the word “corruption,” but was instead enforcing a long-established parliamentary rule.
