Prison officer, Joel Johnson, 21, was today jailed for three years when he pleaded guilty at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court to possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The police said in a statement that Johnson of Lot 1, Section ‘C’ Clonbrook, East Coast Demerara, was arrested yesterday with 804 grams of cannabis.
Johnson appeared this morning at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed to answer the charge. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years imprisonment with a fine of $30,000.
