-Hercules looking for improved batting performance
The Guyana Harpy Eagles are set to commence their final practice match today, from 9:30AM at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence.
This encounter serves as a crucial opportunity for selectors to evaluate players before finalizing the squad for Guyana’s title defence in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Regional Four-Day Championship, which begins on January 29 at the same venue.
The teams for this practice match are led by experienced players Kemol Savory and Nial Smith.
Notably, senior players Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Kevlon Anderson, and Matthew Nandu are currently attending a CWI spin bowling camp in Antigua and Barbuda and will not participate in this match. In the aftermath of the first practice match, Head Coach Ryan Hercules expressed concerns regarding the batting performances.
He emphasized the necessity for batsmen to occupy the crease for extended periods and build substantial innings. Hercules stated, “We want players to bat for extended periods; that’s the challenge I’ll set for them.”
Despite these batting challenges, Hercules acknowledged the commendable efforts of the young fast bowlers, who showcased impressive skill and determination during the initial trial match.
