Section of Aranaputa without potable water

Dear Editor,

The largest budget has just been read and it is the mind-boggling sum of $1.38 trillion dollars. Money is available for infrastructural development as well as for the improvement of the lives of citizens across the country.

Against this backdrop, I would like to bring to the attention of the Honourable Ministers of Housing and Water as well as the management of GWI, that a section of the community of Aranaputa in the North Rupununi, Region 9 is without potable water. The one deep well servicing the community is inadequate to meet the needs of all the residents and there is an urgent need for another.

With four months to go before the rainy season and with the effects of the recent El Nino phenomenon still being felt, inevitably there will be water shortages as well as increased water stress on livestock and crops. As such an appeal is being made to have an additional deep well dug in the community of Aranaputa to ensure that all residents are able to readily access clean, clear potable water. Over to you Honorable Ministers for your speedy intervention.

Sincerely

J. Abraham
