High Commissioner-Designate of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana to the Republic of India, Dharamkumar Seeraj (left), yesterday, presented a copy of his credentials to Anshuman Gaur, Chief of Protocol at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

On July 3rd last year, Stabroek News had reported that Seeraj, former Secretary of the Rice Producers Association of Guyana and a PPP/C Parliamentarian,  had been tipped for the position of High Commissioner to India.

The position of High Commissioner to India became vacant in 2022, following then High Commissioner Charrandass Persaud being recalled one year after he had taken up the post, following his verbal abuse of Indian associate professor, Sonya Gosh.

On his parliamentary biography, Seeraj is described as a “seasoned campaigner in the agriculture sector with specific focus on the rice industry.”  The Parliament of Guyana also informs that Seeraj has been a Member of Parliament since 2006.
