Dear Editor,
As a public-spirited citizen of our country, in the light of the seemingly copious allocations in the present budget, I would like to propose the following improvements to our public systems which would serve to enhance the quality of life of our citizens.
1. The present transportation system, which is currently managed by private vehicle owners, and which is posing many problems to our citizens who do not have the resources to utilise their own, is very haphazard and many times unruly and causing them many problems in travelling in the times and comfort that would make life easier for them.
I would like to suggest a system owned and run by public authorities in each region which would offer scheduled and comfortable trips to and from destinations that are most convenient to those of the elderly, students and working people.
2. Public free libraries in the major communities in each region would help to serve those in each area who would derive great personal and community benefits from readily accessible literature, as well as our students in their education and entertainment efforts.
This would also serve to produce a more enlightened society, which is obviously needed among a great portion of our people.
3. Aware of some effort by the government to provide play parks on some areas, I would like to encourage them to make a greater effort to get more of these available, so that the majority of our children can benefit from this essential amenity in their upbringing.
Sincerely,
Roy Paul
