Two men appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday, facing charges of robbery with violence.

Joel Gulliver, 20, and Delano Williams, 22, were accused of robbing Terrance McBean on January 19, on South Road, Georgetown. The charge alleges the defendants stole a cellphone valued at $15,000 and $40,000 in cash from McBean, using personal violence during or immediately after the incident.

Both Gulliver and Williams pled not guilty.

The prosecution objected to bail, alleging that Williams had interfered with the victim. However, McBean clarified in court that the alleged interference was related to a settlement proposed by a family member of one of the accused.

When Magistrate McGusty inquired whether McBean was open to accepting the settlement, he confirmed his willingness. Subsequently, a sum of $150,000 was handed over to McBean, and the matter was resolved for both defendants.
