In a decisive promotion/relegation playoff at the National Training Centre, Providence, Anns Grove United FC ensured their place in the upcoming Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League season with a commanding 4-1 victory over Mahaica Determinators FC.
The match saw Anns Grove United dominate proceedings, and that was justified as they took an early lead, with Dellon Wright finding the net in the 23rd minute.
Before halftime, Jouhancey Francis (45+2’) doubled the advantage, scoring just before the whistle. Shortly after the break, Jaden Vangronigen extended the lead further in the 49th minute.
Despite a consolation goal from Mahaica Determinators’ Brian Jugador in the 75th minute, Anns Grove sealed their triumph with Adam Gonsalves adding a fourth in stoppage time.
This result means Anns Grove United retain their position in the GFF Elite League, while Mahaica Determinators, who had progressed through the qualification playoffs, miss out on promotion after falling short in both the qualification final and this crucial fixture.
The GFF Elite League, Guyana’s premier football competition, is set to commence its seventh season in the coming weeks.
