A Woman Special Constable and Woman Police Corporal have been jointly charged with obtaining money by false pretence, committed against Malika Nelson on August 15, 2024 at the Central Police Station, New Amsterdam, Berbice.

According to reports, Constable Kathy McCalmon stationed at the Central Police Station and attached to the Special Constabulary, was placed on close arrest on August 15, 2024 and appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Magistrate Michelle Matthias where the indictable charge was read to her.

McCalmon was not required to enter a plea and bail was granted in the sum of $20,000.

The matter was postponed to February 20 for report.

However, Corporal Pinheiro did not appear in court yesterday as she had reported sick on January 20, and is currently on seven days sick leave, the report added.
