Marine patrol conducted in Pomeroon River

A marine patrol, spearheaded by Assistant Superintendent N.Lall, the Subordinate Officer in Charge of the Charity Police Station, was conducted in the Pomeroon River on Monday 27th January 2025 between 15:05 and 16:36 hrs.

ASP Lall was accompanied by Sergeant 16336 Massiah and other Police ranks, as well as (MARAD) Marine Officer K. Belfield, a release from the police said.

During the Joint Marine Patrol, the following boat operators were stopped:

1. Vamol Narine

2. Darwin Abrams

3. Bernard Park

4. Randolph Ammon

5. Campbell Thornill

Lall and  Belfield enlightened the boat operators on the following:

— Procedures to obtain a Marine licence

— Operator to have their vessels and boats in a serviceable condition

— Safety precautions and measures to be taken always

— Operators to provide life jackets to schoolchildren and every passenger

— Proper usage of the river and channel

Passengers were observed without safety life jackets and the patrol team warned the boat operators that action would be taken should there be a recurrence.
