The Guyana Harpy Eagles are poised to commence their title defence in the 2025 Cricket West Indies (CWI) Four-Day Regional Championship, facing off against the Barbados Pride at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, from today.

Leading the squad is captain Kemol Savory, supported by vice-captain Matthew Nandu. The team boasts a blend of seasoned players and emerging talents. Notably, young fast bowler Thaddeus Lovell has earned his maiden call-up to the senior national team after impressive performances in domestic competitions, and more recently, was among the wickets during the two Harpy Eagles trial matches.

In the absence of Kevin Sinclair, who is on Test duty in Pakistan, Junior Sinclair is anticipated to make his four-day debut. His recent century in the second trial match reinforced his claim for the opportunity.

The squad also includes experienced players like opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul and left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul, whose leadership will be invaluable as the Harpy Eagles aim to secure their 14th regional first-class title and eighth in ten seasons.  Head Coach Ryan Hercules has expressed satisfaction with the team’s preparations and is confident in their readiness to face the Barbados Pride. As the Harpy Eagles embark on their campaign, the blend of experienced players and promising newcomers like Lovell and Sinclair will be pivotal in their quest to retain their title.
