Security guards shot at in North Ruimveldt by unknown assailants

Two security guards in a vehicle were allegedly shot by unknown assailants on Christiani Street, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

The incident which occurred at about 7:30 pm on Tuesday, Jan 28, involved Jamaul Brown, a 27-year-old security guard of Leopold Street, Georgetown, and his colleague Akeem Emmanuel, also known as ‘Pappi’, a 35-year-old resident of North Ruimveldt. Both men are employed by Chung Global Inc, a local construction company.

According to Brown, he was driving the company’s vehicle, a Toyota Premio – PAD 5418, when he received a call from the owner of the company, Cleon Chung, instructing him to pick up Emmanuel for work. While driving back to the office after getting Emmanuel, Brown slowed to navigate a pothole and suddenly heard several loud noises that sounded like gunfire.

In a panic, Brown accelerated away from the scene and turned onto Aubrey Barker Road. Once they reached safety, both men exited the vehicle and proceeded to the East La Penitence police station to report the incident.

 Investigators attended and processed the scene, where they recovered three 9mm spent shell casings. The area was canvassed by police for CCTV footage but they came up empty-handed. Upon inspecting the vehicle, they noted three holes in the driver’s side doors, believed to be caused by gunfire, along with a shattered driver’s side window. The car is currently lodged at the East La Penitence Police Station.
