Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Brigadier Omar Khan is currently participating in the Caribbean Heads of Defence Conference, co-hosted by the militaries of the United Kingdom and the Dominican Republic.
A release yesterday from the GDF said that the high-level forum brings together regional defence leaders to discuss security challenges and strengthen strategic partnerships. Among the attendees is United Kingdom Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin.
During the conference, the release said that Khan formalised bilateral defence relations with the Dominican Republic through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, Minister of Defence of the Dominican Republic. The agreement, signed on Monday, January 27, 2025, covers the entire spectrum of military cooperation aimed at combating common threats.
