…register workmanlike 5-wicket win in final T20
(Trinidad Express) West Indies women romped to a 3-0 series sweep when they won the third and final T20 International against Bangladesh in Basseterre. St Kitts, on Thursday night.
Unlike the first two matches, the Bangladeshis were able to make more of a contest out of this one, with the hosts taking 18.3 overs to reach the winning target of 105 for five. But despite early stumbles in their reply, the Windies women overhauled their opponents with niine balls to spare in the end, Shabiki Gajnabi (27 not out) and Zaida James (14 not out) seeing out the win in an unbroken 44-run partnership.
Jannillea Glasgow had earlier added 25 while Fahima Khatum (two for 14) and Sultana Khatum (two for 30) among the wickets for the visitors.
For Bangladesh, skipper Nigar Sultana Joty (33) topscored before she was run out by Deandra Dottin on the final ball of their innings when the Bangladeshis could only muster 104 for eight.
Joty held the innings together with wickets falling all around her, with the second highest score being 21 from wicketkeeper/opening batter Dilara Akter Dola.
Glasgow featured for the West Indies bowlers in a second-string team for the Caribbean cricketers.
She earned three for 15 from her allotted four overs with Zaida James, Afy Fletcher and Ashmini Munisar supplementing with one wicket each.
