North Essequibo, President’s XI triumph in ECB Busta T20

North Essequibo beat Leguan by 82 runs on Saturday when action continued in the 2025 Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB) Busta-sponsored T20 eight-team competition.

Playing at Hampton Court ground, Region Two, North Essequibo tallied up a formidable 199 all out in 20 overs, while Leguan replied with 117 all out off 19.2 overs.

Former Guyana youth player Rocky Parsotam top-scored for North Essequibo with 31, while Narendra Madholall and Fazil Rahim chipped in with 29 and 24 respectively.

R Austin was the most successful bowler for the visitors with 3-19 from four medium-pace overs. Austin returned with the bat for Leguan to prove his all-round capability by hitting a combative 52. Neil Codogan, Madholall and Khemraj Singh grabbed two wickets apiece for the winning side on a responsive pitch.

And at Imam Bacchus ground, a President’s X1 got the better of South Essequibo with a thrilling six-wicket win. South Essequibo was asked to take first strike and they only got to a modest 115-8 at the expiration of the 20 overs. President X1 surpassed the target with four balls to spare.

J Campbell led the way for the President X1 with 44 while Rajindra Ramballi contributed an important 24. When South Essequibo batted, Raj Gourdeen scored 26 and A Adams, 24.

The competition was set to conclude yesterday with the grand finale at Imam Bacchus’s facility.
