In a continued effort to support youth development through sports, the Guyana Police Force Officers Cricket Team donated essential cricket gear to two promising young cricketers from the Malteenoes Cricket Club.
The presentation took place at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, Georgetown, with the players receiving their equipment in the presence of their coach, Joel Alleyne.
The two recipients, Joshua Bollers and Akeem Persaud, both students of Annandale Secondary School, recently secured spots on the Demerara Cricket Board’s Under-15 team.
Their dedication and talent were recognised by Deputy Commissioner of Administration, Ravindradat Budhram, who also serves as the captain of the Senior Police Officers’ Cricket Team and Chairman of the Police Cricket Committee.
Budhram, on behalf of the Officers’ Cricket Team, presented the young cricketers with the much-needed gear to aid their sporting development. He took the opportunity to encourage them to balance their athletic aspirations with academic excellence, emphasising the values of discipline, hard work, and education.
This initiative is part of the Guyana Police Force’s broader commitment to youth engagement, using sports as a platform to mentor and positively influence young individuals. Through such efforts, the Force aims to strengthen relationships with communities while providing opportunities for young athletes to excel both on and off the field.
