Today, the greens of the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) are set to host the much-anticipated DEMLIFE Golf Tournament.
Sponsored by Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society (DEMLIFE), the annual event promises to put together some of Guyana’s top golfers in a spirited contest.
Players will once again battle for prestigious titles and prizes in what promises to be an exciting day of golfing action. This year’s tournament will be played in the medal play format over 18 holes, with play scheduled to begin at 12:30 PM.
Competitors will vie for several top honours, including Best Net in each flight, as well as first, second, and third-place finishes. The golfer with the lowest overall score will claim the coveted Best Gross award. Additionally, skill-based challenges such as “Nearest to the Flag” on Hole #4 and “Longest Drive” on Hole #5 will add an extra layer of excitement to the competition.
Among those looking to make an impact will be defending champion Mike Mangal, who clinched the 2023 title in the 0-16 handicap flight with a Gross 79 and Net 71 off a Handicap 8. With a strong field expected, this year’s tournament is set to showcase high-level golf and intense competition.
To ensure a smooth event, all participants must check in with the Club’s Manager on the day of the tournament to collect their scorecards and settle their fees before heading to their designated tee boxes. The event will commence with a shotgun start at 12:30 pm, signaled by a horn or siren. Following the final putt, the awards presentation ceremony will take place at approximately 5:30 pm, where winners will be formally recognized for their achievements.
