Bartica teacher, 25, charged with rape of student

Dahlerus Courtman, a 25-year-old school teacher of 87-89 Three Miles Potaro Road, Bartica, who was arrested on 2025-02-05, by ranks of the Bartica Police Station for the alleged rape of an underage female student, has been remanded to prison after appearing in court charged with ‘Sexual Activity with a Child by Abusing a Position of Trust’.

Condemnation grows over incorrect display of map at Suriname conference

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guyana’s Foreign Secretary, the Shadow Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) have all condemned the displaying of an incorrect map showing Guyana’s New River Triangle as part of Suriname at a recent Inter-national Business Conference (IBC) in Paramaribo.

Wounding accused granted bail

A man, who allegedly wounded another and then resisted arrest while behaving in a disorderly manner, was yesterday granted bail when he appeared before Magis-trate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer the charges.

A man was yesterday fined $20,000 and placed on $30,000 bail when he appeared at the George-town Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore to answer charges of disorderly behaviour, use of abusive language and use of threatening language.
