Approaching two years after investor Chief Samsair told Stabroek News that soil testing had been completed for the construction of the Best Western Hotel at Liliendaal, no visible work has commenced at the site.
In April 2023, Samsair had told Stabroek News that land clearing would begin soon to make way for the foundation. However, there is no sign of activity at the site. Samsair has declined to comment on the matter.
The site—formerly the location of the Carib Hotel and then the Guyana Agency for Health Sciences Education and Food Policy —remains vacant.
The Best Western was intended to have 120 rooms.
