A 32-year-old man died yesterday after his motorbike was hit  by a car on Takuba Road in Meadow Brook at around 3.30 pm.

Dead is Brentnol Greenidge of 9 Bamboo Drive, Meadow Brook, Georgetown.  He had been on his way to a nearby shop to collect beverages to sell at the J’ouvert Soca concert.

According to relatives the driver of the car has been detained by the police.

The sister of the deceased, Nichol Goodluck, told the Sunday Stabroek  that she couldn’t say exactly what happened because she was at home when she got the news about the accident but her brother went home yesterday afternoon and packed two coolers of beverages to sell at the soca concert which was scheduled to start last night. He later left on his motorcycle to pick up more drinks from the shop and that’s when a girl came running down the street to inform her about the accident.

She said, “the girl come running in the street telling me the boy with the blue and white bike just get knock down.” An ambulance was called but her brother didn’t survive.

She said that two males, 16 and 17-years-old were in the car at the time of the incident. They were placed in a car by her brother and transported to a nearby Police Station since the police did not arrive on the scene right away.

The family wants justice. Greenidge was described as a lovable person. He ran a bar and carwash at his home. He leaves behind his wife, along with his 4-year-old daughter, 5-year-old son and his four siblings including, his twin brother. (Subhana Shiwmangal)
