(Trinidad Express) Three people were killed and a six-year-old boy injured when gunmen barged into a house at Guanapo, Arima, on Saturday night and opened fire.

Up to midday on yesterday police were still at the scene, interviewing relatives of the deceased.

They have been identified as Ansel James, his sister Anicia James, 47, and Anicia’s common-law husband Mitchell Francois, 30.

The six-year-old boy, one of Anicia’s four children, was shot in both feet, said police and was receiving medical up to Sunday afternoon.

Investigators said the incident took place around 10.15 p.m., along La Retreat Extension, off Dump Road, just after Anicia closed a small shop adjoining her home.

While in the house, police said gunmen ran into the building and shot the victims before running off and escaping through an orange field opposite to the house.

Police stated they did not have a clear motive for the murders.
