Following the conclusion of Mashramani celebrations on Sunday, the Mayor and City Council engaged a private contractor and received additional support from the Ministry of Public Works to facilitate a swift cleanup.
The celebrations, which saw thousands of revellers participating in parades, picnics, and other festivities, left significant amounts of garbage along key areas from Carmichael Street to Vlissengen Road and leading into the National Park. By yesterday morning, waste was visibly scattered along these routes, but cleanup efforts were already underway.
