Diamond man to be charged soon over shooting to death of wife – police

Thirty-two-year-old Marlon DaSilva who fatally shot Kenesha Vaughn remains in police custody and is expected to be charged soon.

A file on the matter has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice, Commander of Regional Division 4 ‘B’, Senior Super-intendent Khalid Mandall, told the Stabroek News yesterday.

DaSilva allegedly murdered Kenesha Marie Juman-Vaughn, a 27-year-old housewife at the couple’s home at Lot 1179 Section ‘A’ Block ‘X’ Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, at about 20.00 hours on Saturday.

According to the police, DaSilva is licensed to carry a CZ semi-automatic pistol, with a magazine capacity of 10-15 rounds.

Investigations revealed that the victim and suspect had shared a relationship for the past four years and have a three-year-old son. They had been living at the aforementioned address for the past year.

According to police, DaSilva arrived home at about 20:00 hours on Saturday and met Vaughn in the kitchen. They argued and it escalated with DaSilva slapping Vaughn. This prompted her to arm herself with a knife and she approached DaSilva, who drew his firearm and fired several shots at her, striking her about the body.

DaSilva then contacted the police, who responded and rushed the victim to the Diamond Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
