GEA opens registration for training in electric vehicle maintenance, repairs

As part of its commitment to building local technical capability in support of the growing electric vehicle (EV) market, the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) in collaboration with the European Union (EU), will be implementing its fourth practical and classroom-based training course in EV maintenance and repairs, the Department of Public Information (DPI) announced in a release yesterday.

The release further informed that this training programme is supported by the European Union under its flagship initiative – Euroclima, as part of its drive to promote sustainable development and climate action in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The training is co-funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), as part of the EU’s Global Gateway strategy, which prioritises investments in renewable energy and electric mobility in Guyana. According to DPI, the course will cover technological aspects of all major makes and models of hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as the main technological components, and systems that comprise modern electric and hybrid vehicles both from a theoretical and practical perspective. Emphasis will be placed on best practices for the maintenance and repair of EVs to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Training will last for five full days from 9am to 4:30pm each day and upon successful completion of the course and final assessments, participants will be issued with an internationally recognised certificate in electric vehicle maintenance and repair.

The training will be provided to the participants free of cost.
