Rock Auto Legends Futsal kicks off with intense opening night battles

The second annual Rock Auto Legends Futsal Competition got off to a thrilling start on Monday night at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, as teams clashed in group stage action. While some teams managed to find the back of the net, others were locked in fierce defensive battles, setting the stage for an exciting tournament ahead.  

The opening match saw Back Circle B edge past LA Ballers in a hard-fought 3-2 victory. Martin King led the charge for Back Circle B with a brace, while Kellon Gordon added one to secure the win. LA Ballers put up a valiant fight with goals from Joel McGarrell and David George, but they ultimately fell short.  

The second match between Stabroek Ballers A and Ztekk ended in a goalless draw, with neither side able to break the deadlock despite several promising opportunities. 

Part of the action between Sparta Boss and Albouystown on Monday night at the National Gymnasium. The two sides played to an entertaining 0-0 draw in a group stage contest.

In the night’s third fixture, Gold is Money claimed a crucial 1-0 victory over Bent Street B, courtesy of a well-taken goal by Andrew Murray Jr. The match was a tactical showdown, but Murray Jr.’s clinical finish proved to be the difference.  

North East La Penitence delivered a solid performance in Game 4, securing a 2-0 win against North Ruimveldt. Shemar Sampson and Calvin Moore both found the net to ensure their team started the competition on the right foot.  

Defence continued to dominate in Game 5 as Mocha Family and Road Warriors battled to a 0-0 stalemate. Both teams showcased resilience, denying each other any clear-cut scoring opportunities.  

Bent Street A produced one of the most convincing performances of the night, cruising past Stabroek Ballers B with a commanding 3-0 victory. Adrian Aaron, Bevney Marks, and Jemar Harrigan each contributed a goal to seal the win in emphatic fashion.  

Festival City and Back Circle A also struggled to break through in Game 7, settling for a goalless draw in a match where defences stood tall.  

The final game of the night between Albouystown and Sparta Boss, though ending in a 0-0 draw, proved to be one of the most entertaining encounters. Both teams created numerous chances, but goalkeepers and defenders rose to the occasion, ensuring a tense and thrilling finish.
