GCOS Table Tennis Championship
Colin Wong and Jasmine Billingy secured respective divisional titles at the Guyana Committee of Services (GCOS) Mashramani Table Tennis Championship at the Georgetown Cricket Club pavilion.
Wong secured the open championship and the boy’s U-17 crown. In the open category final, Wong brushed aside Malachi Moore 12-10, 12-10, and 11-7. In the earlier U-17 decider, Wong overcame Moore 3-2.
Similarly, Billingy triumphed in the girl’s open division as well as the U-17 section. Billingy won the open title after overcoming a 0-2 deficit during the final against Samara Sukhai.
Losing the first and second sets 8-11 and 9-11, Billingy commenced the comeback with a 12-10 win in the third set. She then equalised at 2-2 after winning the fourth stanza 11-5 before completing the result with an 11-7 showing. In their earlier U-17 section, Billingy won 11-5, 11-7, and 11-5 against Sukhai.
In similar fashion, Vibert Williams also captured two divisional titles, prevailing in the men’s Over-55 and Over-65 categories, respectively. Williams defeated Shaun Abrams 2-0 in the Over-55 section, while he bested Stanley Jones by the identical score in the Over-65 pool.
