Unacceptable level of disrespect towards Minister Mustapha

Dear Editor,

I’m writing to express my concern about a recent incident involving Honourable Zulfikar Mustapha, Minister of Agriculture. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Minister Mustapha for many years, and I can attest that he’s one of the humblest individuals I’ve met.

Recently, I witnessed on social media an unacceptable level of disrespect towards Minister Mustapha while he was addressing farmers in Mahaica Creek. It’s essential that our leaders, especially those working tirelessly for the betterment of our communities, are given the opportunity to speak without interruptions or disrespect.

Minister Mustapha has been a champion for Guyana’s agricultural sector, working to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of agri-food systems. His dedication to the nation’s farmers is evident in his efforts to promote a diversified agriculture-based economy and ensure food security.

I believe it’s crucial that we maintain respect and civility in our interactions, especially when engaging with our leaders. I hope that in the future, Minister Mustapha and other leaders will be given the respect and opportunity to address the public without disruptions. We must not forget only a few years back the APNU+AFC Minister of agriculture was not accessible to farmers.

 Sincerely,

Govind Singh
