The government is advancing plans to establish a National Telemedicine Hub, connecting all public and private hospitals and health centres to a global network of specialists. The initiative, aimed at improving healthcare accessibility and efficiency, was announced on Saturday by President Irfaan Ali at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.

The President stated that he has instructed Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony and Attorney General Anil Nandlall to develop a legislative and policy framework to support the implementation of the hub.

Through this system, specialists from around the world will be available 24/7 to provide remote support to medical practitioners in hospitals, health centres, and other health facilities across Guyana. The President emphasized the government’s commitment to delivering world-class healthcare services, noting that similar advancements are also being made in education.
