A three-year-old, Alaia Etwaroo, of Lot 98 Exmouth in Region Two, died yesterday afternoon after a fence fell on her. According to reports, the incident occurred around 5.20 pm.
Etwaroo lived with her mother, Saudia Hannif and father Ganesh Etwaroo.
According to her father, yesterday his two daughters, Alaia and Sarfeena Etwaroo, were playing on the western side of the yard when their mother heard a loud noise coming from that direction.
Upon checking, she saw her daughter lying on the ground with the metal gate on top of her.
She was immediately picked up, bleeding from a wound on her forehead, and rushed to the Charity Public Hospital, where she was seen and examined by the doctor on duty, who pronounced her dead on arrival.
