Region #5 and Region #4A/4B Combined recorded comfortable wins when the Police Commissioner Cup T20 Championship continued yesterday at the Eve Leary ground.

Region #5 sent a stern warning to the field as they battered the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Academy by 106 runs in the first match of the doubleheader. Batting first under overcast conditions, Region #5 tallied an imposing 199/4 in their allocation.

Shemroy Barrington smashed 73 runs, which contained five boundaries and five maximums. The next best scorer with 49 runs was Grisean Grant, which featured five boundaries and two maximums. Chipping in with 31 and 21 runs, respectively, were Titus Webster and Lennox Williams. Extras also contributed to the score with 24.

Collis Hardcourt snared 2-50. In response, the GPF Academy was bundled out for 93 in 16.1 overs.

Grant showcased his all-round skillset as he engineered the batting collapse, snaring impressive figures of 4-17 in three overs, while Williams supported with 3-13 in 2.1 overs. Dunston McKenzie also made his presence felt with 2-19, with Aquesi Arthur tallying 1-9.

Extras top scored for the loser with 17, while Marsh King and Euan Blair were the next best scorers with 15 runs, respectively. Jamar Adams and Otto Towler were the only other batsmen to reach double figures with 11 and 10 runs apiece.

In similar fashion, Region #4A/4B Combined thrashed Region #3 by eight wickets. Batting first, Region #4A/4B Combined tallied a respectable 158 all out. C. Barnwell and J. Anderson top scored with 25 and 20 runs, respectively, while D. Singh, D. Hughes, and B. Lalbachan scored 19, 17, and 14 runs, respectively.

D. Dick was the pick of the bowlers with 3-13, while O. Venture tallied 2-34.

In reply, Region #4A/4B Combined stormed to 160/2. Venture displayed his all-round quality with an aggressive 65, while D. Collin supported with 23. H. Persaud snared 3-31 with the ball.

The tournament continues today at the same venue with another round of matches.
