Woman charged with damaging clothes

Thirty-seven-year-old Carlotta Jarad appeared on Wednesday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore charged with damage of property.

Jarad pled not guilty to the charge.

It is alleged that on March 12, at Avenue of the Republic and Regent Street, Georgetown, Jarad damaged a quantity of clothing valued $60,000 belonging to Calvin Belgrave.

When questioned by the magistrate, Jarad stated that Belgrave called her the night before and apologised for accusing her and that onlookers in the area told him that it was a homeless person in the area who had damaged his property.

The prosecutor requested that Jarad be placed on a bond citing the fact that she went to the victim’s place of work.

The matter was adjourned to April 16.
