Former Essequibo Senior Inter-County opening batsman Ravi Beharry produced a sensational knock of 164 runs, but his effort was in vain as defending champions Caribbean Cricket Club (CCC) 2 secured a 25-run victory in the opening round of the 2025 Essequibo Softball Cricket League (ESCL) Over-40 T20 tournament.

Playing at the Reliance Sports Ground, Essequibo Coast, Region 2, CCC 2 set a challenging total of 267-6 after electing to bat first. Ganesh Mangal led the charge with a composed 48, while ex-Guyana youth player Latchman Rohit added 44. Despite Beharry’s blistering innings, which included 12 sixes and five fours, his team, Untouchables, fell short, finishing at 242-8 at the end of their 20 overs. Mangal also starred with the ball, taking 4-42 from his allotted four overs, while his captain Patrick Rooplall chipped in with 3-34 (4).
