Residents and farmers of Vriesland, West Bank Demerara, are to benefit from the allocation of some 200 acres of pasture land as well as machinery to enhance drainage systems and protect farmlands from flooding.
This was disclosed by Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha during a community outreach on Wednesday morning last, which followed a commitment made by President Irfaan Ali to the residents of the area.
Farmers and livestock producers from Vriesland and nearby communities voiced several pressing issues, including the lack of adequate grazing land for livestock, as housing developments have reduced available pasture.
