The Cheddi Jagan Inter-national Airport (CJIA), Timehri is undergoing extensive upgrades to meet international standards, with negotiations for the Terminal Two contract in the final stages.
According to a release from the Department of Public Information (DPI), this disclosure was made by Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill during a meeting on Tuesday last at the airport with contractors, airport engineers, and CJIA’s Chief Executive Officer Ramesh Ghir.
DPI informed that the expansion includes the construction of a new commercial centre, VIP lounge, upgraded tarmac and aircraft parking areas, administrative office, and an improved baggage-handling facility. The commercial centre is currently 80 percent complete, with significant progress made on the first and ground floors, while the contractor for the executive lounge has been approved to proceed with civil works.
