World Bank approves US$22m for health resilience here

The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has approved a new US$ 22-million Guyana One Health Project to strengthen health resilience in Guyana as well as focus on empowering the country to prevent, prepare for, and respond to health emergencies, while adopting a One Health approach, which integrates human, animal, and environmental health systems, a World Bank release announced yesterday.  

Timehri woman, 40, found dead in hotel

At about 8.45 am yesterday, the lifeless body of Junan Gomes, a 40-year-old woman from Lot 306 Timehri, EBD, was discovered in Room #5 at the Sunflower Hotel/Restau-rant and Bar located on Cummings Street and South Road, Georgetown, by the hotel’s supervisor, Coleen Cush.

Yesterday, customs officers of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) and CANU officers, acting on information received, searched one incoming barrel from the United States of America (USA), which led to the discovery of several transparent parcels containing a quantity of foreign cannabis.
