Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) customer Surendra Tulsi says that $2.2m has disappeared from his joint account at the bank and that he has gotten no satisfaction.
When contacted by Stabroek News on the matter, Senior Marketing Manager at GBTI, Pernell Cummings, said, “We urge any customer with a query or an issue to make a formal report to the bank. We will then activate our investigation and provide a response in a very timely manner, depending on the complexity of the query.”
Cummings also assured that once the police are involved, the bank will follow legal guidelines and cooperate fully with the investigation.
Tulsi said he has banked with GBTI for over 23 years and recently discovered that over $2.2 million was withdrawn from his joint account under suspicious circumstances.
