Keith Harris

Keith Harris, who is accused of murdering his aunt,  Audrey Haydes on December 22, 2022, is set to face trial again before Justice Nareshwar Harnanan at the High Court in Demerara. The trial is scheduled to begin on April 3, 2025.

Audrey Haydes

Harris, who pleaded not guilty, had previously appeared before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow in February, where he initially pleaded guilty but later retracted his plea multiple times. Due to these inconsistencies, Justice Barlow had ordered that specific provisions be made and presented to the court within three weeks before ruling on a potential retrial.

Her decision had also been influenced by reports on Harris’s conduct in prison and his probation report. She had further directed his attorney, Ronald Bostwick, to consult with him urgently. Bostwick later informed the court that he had already spoken with his client, who appeared to understand the legal stipulations.

Harris is now being represented by attorney Adrian Thompson for the retrial.
