DCB U-19 Inter-Association Championship
Georgetown and East Bank registered lopsided victories when the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) U-19 Inter-Association 50-Over Championship continued yesterday.
Georgetown maintained their perfect record as they defeated visitors East Coast by eight wickets at the Transport Sports Club Ground in Thomas Lands. Batting first after winning the toss, the East Coast innings only lasted for 29.5 overs as they were skittled for 100.
Vickash Wilkinson top scored with 29 runs, which featured four boundaries and a maximum. Nicholas Shiopersaud was the next best scorer with 23 runs, which contained three boundaries. Riyad Latif was the architect of the East Coast batting collapse as he snared figures of 5-24 from eight overs.
He was supported by Jayden Dowlin, who tallied 2-6 from seven overs, while Dave Mohabir, Jonathan Van Lange, and Feyaad Leakraj tallied one wicket apiece.
In response, Georgetown overhauled the total in a mere 12 overs as they ended on 101/2. Emmanuel Adams recorded an unbeaten score of 42 runs which contained five boundaries and two maximums. He was supported by Shiloh Adams, the scorer of 31 runs, which featured five boundaries and a maximum.
Dowlin also contributed with the bat as he scored 10, which was highlighted by a maximum and a boundary. Saif Ragbeer was the pick of the bowlers with 2-25 in five overs.
Likewise, hosts East Bank thrashed Upper Demerara by eight wickets at the Farm Sports Club Ground. Upper Demerara, who won the toss, only occupied the crease for a meagre 22.4 overs, as they were bundled out for a paltry 69.
The wickets were shared amongst the quartet of Sayyad Lakeram, Vamol Lall, Deon Dindial, and Altaf Rahim. Lakeram led the bowling effort with impressive figures of 4-17 from five overs, while Lall was equally effective as he snared 3-22 in a six-over spell.
Chipping in with 2-20 from 6.4 overs was Dindial, while Rahim recorded 1-10 from five overs. Jonathan Mentore was the only batsman that recorded a score of note, as he tallied 29 runs which contained three boundaries.
The hosts in response ended the contest in 13.1 overs as they finished on 70/2. Lakeram displayed his all-round quality with an unbeaten 25 runs, which was highlighted by two boundaries, while Yeshua Hutson tallied an undefeated score of 18, which also contained two boundaries.
Dindial was also among the runs with 13. Mentore and Rusco Anderson tallied 1-12 and 1-26, respectively, for the loser.
The tournament continues today with another round of matches.
