-claims it was self defence
Septon Barton, 29, was yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Faith McGusty after he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court charged with attempted murder.
The charge alleges that on April 8, at Plum Park, Sophia, Georgetown, Barton wounded Roger Vyfhuis with the intent to murder him.
Barton’s defence counsel, attorney-at-law Dominick Bess, told the court that his client acted in self-defence. He said that there had been an ongoing conflict between the two men, with Vyfhuis allegedly being the aggressor. According to Bess, Vyfhuis had made several threats against Barton, and multiple reports had been filed at the police station to that effect.
