Ogle, Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), and East Bank Eagles secured contrasting wins when the Demerara Zone in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MCYS) National U-21 50-Over Knockout Championship continued.

Ogle thrashes Malteenoes behind Singh’s mammoth century

At Malteenoes, Ogle made a powerful statement, piling up 316 for 7 in just 48 overs after being sent in to bat. The highlight of the innings was a blistering 153 from Mohendar Singh, who hammered 14 fours and 5 sixes. He was supported by Alex Mangra with a composed 42. Malteenoes bowlers shared wickets evenly, with Paton, Ramkelawan, Ramnauth, and Boosram claiming one each.

In reply, Malteenoes crumbled under scoreboard pressure, bundled out for 126 in 44.5 overs. Joshua Bollers (34) and Vickash Asaram (31) showed some resistance, but it wasn’t enough to counter Ogle’s dominant bowling. Ajay Gainda starred with 4 for 15 off 6.5 overs, while Samuel Heeralall picked up 3 for 22. Ogle completed a resounding 190-run victory.

Lovell’s century powers GCC

At Meten-Meer-Zorg (MMZ), GCC put up the highest team total of the round, scoring 334 for 7 in their 50 overs. Thaddeus Lovell played an extraordinary innings of 176, smashing 11 fours and 17 sixes in a ruthless display of power-hitting. Nicholas Shiopersaud added 34. Despite efforts from Kelvin Raymond, Udeshram Seetaram, and Navendra Sankar, each picking up two wickets, MMZ’s bowlers had little to celebrate.

MMZ never got going in their chase and were skittled out for 127 in just 25.1 overs. Sachin Balgobin top-scored with 48, but GCC’s bowling was relentless. Aryan Persaud led the attack with 5 for 22, ably supported by Joash Charles (2-29) and Krishna Singh (2-5), as GCC romped to a dominant 207-run win.

Josiah Lim lifts East Bank Eagles past Everest

In another high-scoring affair, East Bank Eagles (EBE) defeated Everest by 137 runs. Batting first, EBE posted 299 all out in their 50 overs, thanks to a sensational 106 from Josiah Lim, who cleared the ropes 11 times and struck 2 fours. Deonarine Dindial added a useful 55. Everest shared the wickets, with five of their bowlers grabbing two each.

Everest’s chase never gained momentum as they were bowled out for 162 in 34 overs. Varun Mangal scored 36 and Kevin Benn chipped in with 27, but Jovind Ducan (4-33) and Altaf Rahim (3-27) ensured a comfortable win for EBE.

DCC overwhelms Fairfield in low-scoring contest

At the DCC ground, the hosts wasted no time in brushing aside Fairfield. After opting to field, DCC restricted Fairfield to just 71 in 20.3 overs. Saeed Sattaur provided some resistance with 31, but DCC’s bowling unit shared the spoils with Ezekiel Wilson, Wavell Allen, and Makai Dowlin, each picking up two wickets.

DCC chased down the target in 14 overs, reaching 72 for 3. Inderjit Nanan (23*) and Kishawn Silas (18*) sealed the 7-wicket win with ease.

Transport A outclasses Police in quick chase

At the Police Ground, Transport A recorded a clinical 6-wicket victory. After winning the toss, Police elected to bat but were shot out for a mere 56 in 27 overs. Joash Samon top-scored with 12, while Reyaz Latif ripped through the lineup with 4 for 11, supported by Afraz Khan’s 2 for 1.

Transport A made light work of the chase, reaching 57 for 4 in just 6 overs, thanks to a brisk 18 from Myhiem Khan.

Transport B too strong for DCB Select XI

In the final fixture of the round, Transport B got the better of the DCB Select XI. Batting first, DCB Select XI were bowled out for 116. Varun Mangal stood tall with 62, while Feyaad Lakeraj added 25. Emmanuel Lewis claimed 3 for 16, with support from Stephon Sankar’s 2 for 29.

Transport B chased the total down comfortably in 13.4 overs, finishing on 117 for 3. Shamar Apple led the way with an unbeaten 56, striking five fours and two sixes. Jeremiah Hohenkirk added 18 not out, guiding their side to a 7-wicket victory.
